The webinar highlights how digital tools can enhance the standard of living for permanent residents. From Åland, we will hear about concrete digital tools for connecting producers with consumers, booking travel to and from Åland, and more. Also from Åland, we will learn about the ‘Waste to Value’ project, which has digitized aspects of recycling and upcycling within the construction industry. The presentation from Ibiza (Balearic Islands) will explore how mobility and tourism management measures can help address tourism pressure and improve residents’ quality of life.

Anna-Lena works with educational development, regional development, sustainability, and digitalization in Åland. With a background in project management, leadership issues, and strong community engagement, Anna-Lena has a genuine interest in democratization processes combined with increased societal efficiency. Today, Anna-Lena works part-time as a project manager for Digital Islands, as chair of the steering committee in several other EU-funded projects, and as program manager for Business Administration and Tourism Management programs at the Åland University of Applied Sciences.

Andreas is a software consultant and entrepreneur with a background in aerospace engineering and commercial helicopter aviation. Through Peruna Deep Consulting and Birdview Labs, he works with software, AI and digital products, with a focus on turning real world needs into practical solutions. In this webinar, he will present several digital services developed for Åland, including res.ax, korgen.ax, eventguiden.ax and loppis.ax, and discuss how locally developed digital tools can improve mobility, access to information, local commerce and everyday life in island communities.

Presenting: Managing Tourism Pressure and Residents’ Quality of Life in Ibiza
Mariano is First Vice-President of the Ibiza Island Council and Minister for Territory, Tourism and Mobility. He holds a Law degree from the University of Barcelona and a Master’s degree in Public Law, Urban Planning and the Environment from Pompeu Fabra University. His professional and political career has been closely linked to urban planning and territorial management. In his current role, he leads policies addressing tourism pressure, sustainable mobility and the regulation of tourism activities in Ibiza.

Bernt is the Project Leader of Waste to Value. It is an EU funded project is establishing practical models for the collection, reuse, and redistribution of second-hand building materials, while also identifying and addressing legal and regulatory barriers to reuse.
